Can Microsoft or anyone else find out if you use copied Microsoft Software, such as Windows or Offic

I have always wondered if you use a copied CD of Windows or Office, that is licensed to another computer, if there is any way of Microsoft or the owner of the license to find out. Could it automatically send data over the internet about where or who is using it? Thanks!
