Can microsoft give you a refurbished xbox 360 after the ring of death?

i bought my 360 in november 2006. um 2months ago it died because of the red rings of death. and i took out my harddrive and everything. and talk to customer support and they sent me a white box and i put in the box and shipped. 1month later they give me a refurbished xbox 360. and the disc reader doesnt work. i dont think microsoft should be giving us refurbished we should get new ones for free. i payed for a brand new and i should be getting a brand new one back. is it legal what microsoft is doing. arent they suppose to give back a new 360.

well 30 percent brake just from the ring of death. and many brake from other problems. so they got all these ''fixed'' ones to send to you guys. and i heard this guy went through 5 so then he go a ps3. which is what you should do. get a ps3

Well at this moment...i just got a refurbished one from microsoft cuz i have the same problem. But just 2 seconds ago....it died on me again and im on the phone with them at this minute.
Of course it's legal.

the only reason why they gave you a refurb, is that they don't want to keep you waiting for months for your console to get fixed.

the reason why they don't give everyone new ones is because it's a Repair Center, not a warehouse. they don't always have new consoles.

The refurbs are always tested before they get shipped out. If it's giving you issues, contact xbox support right away.
um... what part of repair don't you understand, it takes time to fix the console so they send you someone else's fixed console. (most people don't have problems)
